Kat-KaT PahiNunGoD 2010

Climb, Camp, Clean. This is the theme of the Mt. Talinis Rehabilitation Drive sponsored by the Cuernos de Negros Mountaineers Club Inc. and in partnership with the Office Vice Governor Jose “Petit” Baldado which aims to rescue and restore Mt. Talinis, one of the Province’s favorite haven for mountaineers and outdoor fanatics.

Meeting up with other climbers at the Capitol area. I and my group are the first to arrived at the meeting venue. Then, it start to arrive more climber Vice Gov. Petit Baldado arrived then give some instructions and picture taking of the climbers.

Traveling from Capitol Area to Bidiao, Dauin at 7 am. Picture taking of all the climbers. Stretching and prayer then start trek. 1st open climb I've join i never thought how nice is the open climb is because i use to go with friends in climbing. And now, kat kat pahiningod 2010 is meeting up with other climber from diffirent City and Municipalities in the province and other group like the rescuer of Negros Oriental.

This photo shows at the open field of Bediao. This is the Bediao - Apolong Traverse. Lake Yagumyum Lunch break then arrived at Lake Nailig 3:30 pm. The Fastest arrival of all the climb i have in Mt. Talinis.

First time time to summit so we never been given a chance for a good clearing. But if we wait we could see the Lake Nailig and the other lake called Lake Malingin behind the ridge of Nailig.

Other climber got a nice clearing less fog but after a second it resume again. This is the 1.9 summit of Mt. Talinis. Here you could see big trees of Mt. Talinis. There were 3 or 4 big tree here.

That lake is the Nailig we could see the camp site and the tent if there were no fogs and also the other lake behind the redge. Lake Malingid no campsite you could only see it at the trail going to lake Nailig.

This is the clean up at the second day. This part of the Nailig were locals camp in they leave there trush here. Under the rocks, bootles of alcohol on the grasses. And the one who found a brief recieve a reward on the socials.

Vandalism on the stone, i can't remember the name printed. Climbers who have not gone the Basic Mountaineering Course surely did this. Even if we're not gone BMC we should know where to put our waste, our trashes. We bring it up, now we leave when it gets empty? No. we should bring it home. Your backpack is your house, It is design to carry things you've saw on the way like garbages. We can attach on it. We could do restart our forest from it natural beauty. If our water shed it polluted were should we get water? What if our forest die, who will control the flood. Nailig will drain to the City. Twin Lake will drain too. So, don't help kill forest! Help forest to live.

Weee!!! The Twin Falls, for those climb i ve climb Mt. Talinis, Kat Kat Pahinungod give me a chance to go over the place where my other Talinis climb never went on. The Summit and the twin falls. 2 hours of staying here doesn't know the the tail or the sweeper of the expedition is waiting for us.

One of the trail in Apolong :D, PNOC is constructing for the water source. Pipe is on our way so we just slide on it. It's like speed racer :D

At the "Y" waiting for the other climbers to arrived. Riding a truck to El Amigo to celebrate the socials for Kat-Kat Pahinungod 2010. Great experience! Meeting with other climbers here in and from other places of Negros.

Weeeh!! Food, Socials at El Amigo Island Life. Food, Drinks and live band.

Next year Kat-Kat Pahinungod, See you!!

BagTas sa TwinLake (Palinpinon Travers Sto. Nino, SiBuLan

From Foundation University to Palinpinon we arrived at 4 :00 pm. We started our trek after 30 minutes.

Wondering there's a place between those forest near the Pulang bato falls.

Night trek again, wow i love night trekking. No sun you're not easily get thirst.

Twin Lake water is getting high at this time we camp on the site. They put permanent structures like comport room and cottages. :( We dont't like it. We could like it if they made it with a non permanent structure like a bamboo and other woods. :(

This picture shows that we are in the middle of the forest. We arrived at 12:00 o'clock exactly i remember that time. No dinner at that time, we cook dinner when we arrive at the camp site.

Our Camp site the next morning. Then we go home walk for 4 hours to the "Y" then walk for 17 KM to the highway. The longest walk i've walk same as the longest run i've run in Dumaguete Adventure Marathon.

Shoe BrOke SliPPerS Move

Second time around in Mt. Talinis year 2009. Im almost ready for the climb. I have a backpack sponsored by Petchie Sustento her fathers Backpack. Thanks you Chay. ( Yam_Chay) :)

Start trek at 7:00 am, near at the forest line i broke up my shoes, the sole was damage because i never wash it on the first time of my climb in Mt. Talinis. I rope it with a rope im so lucky i brought one. :D

But the rope never do after all, i have a Tribu slipper i used it. It helps me alot. What if i never brought it? What should i do? Bare foot? Yah!! it could do but when you are in camp it helps you alot. Every climb you must be prepare on the things that could failed when operation is going on. Im so luck my slipper never broke up, Tribu Outdoor slippers could steps in mad, wet surfaces.

Seconday day at the Ranch 10 minutes away from the Kaipuhan Sulfur site. When the weather is rainy and the grass is wet the leech will be present. :D Don't be scared with those parasites they're just your friend :P

If you get bite by the leech just
wait for it, the leech will just jump if
he'll be full, :D

Scary night? :D lol i
don't think so
if it just a spirit or a snore.
We kill the quickly lol :D

My First Major Trek

The first, what do you think when you encounter the word " first ". Planning the climb is not so important for me at that stage. Don't know what to bring don't know what bag to use. Two highland school bag i connect it so it become one.
We start our trek at 8:00 am at the Bidjao Jump-off at Dauin, Negros Oriental. We are 9 trekkers in a team. I am the one who lead in the trek, i don't feel any nervous however i fell excited.

I used jean for my trek shoes, not bad not really a mountaineer at that time :D. But i brought a gloves, my wind breaker is no good it easily get wet. Jacket that easily get wet is no good for Mt. Talinis. We arrived at Lake Yagumyum at lunch time, we set our cook set and have a 45 min lunch break.

After that, we started our trek to Yagumyum to Nailig trail. Arrived at the Lake Nailig can't recall the exact time i think we arrived 4 pm.

Worse thing happen to me, lol. Attempting to jump on a canal of the lake. But i did not get it i fall at the canal that the water is leveled at my waist my backpack gets wet and also the things inside it. My warm cloths get wet. Im not prepared at that time i am not seminar yet. My purpose in climbing at that time is just a go with the people, not a good purposed of a good mountaineer.

That was a lesson i've learn on that climb, i never ever wrapped my thing in a trash bag. :)
